Evolution supports Armed Forces Community by signing an Armed Forces Covenant

Evolution, the leading integrated Fire & Security systems business, has signed the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) and joined the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (Bronze) as an organisation that has pledged and will demonstrate support of the defence and armed forced community.

The move is in part motivated by a need to address a widening skills shortage in the security industry, and the need to continually train engineers to be current with the latest technology and thinking around integrated systems.

Brendan McGarrity, Head of Risk & Design at Evolution, believes many ex-servicemen and women will have the skills and the discipline they are looking for: “If you’ve worked on a radar or weapons system, there’s a good chance you’ll have skills that can easily be transferred to a commercial environment,” he says.

“But even if you don’t already have a trade, we can create a learning and development programme that trains you for a new career, and one that we believe will be equally rewarding.”

The announcement coincides with the opening of a new Evolution Academy to create a new generation of engineers who are highly professional, highly skilled, and add real value to the companies they work for and the clients they serve. The Academy looks to welcome not only former service personnel but also a range of potential employees, from new starters to more experienced engineers with time served.
