BS 5306-3:2009 – Fire extinguishing installations and equipment on premises. Commissioning and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers. Code of practice. This standard gives best practice recommendations for the initial commissioning of portable fire extinguishers and provides schedules for the maintenance of fire extinguishers installed at locations. It also includes guidance on how to handle specific types of extinguishers without maintenance schedules. BS 5306-3 looks at five levels of installation and maintenance: commissioning; basic service; extended service; overhaul procedures; and recharge.

BS 5306-8:2012 – Fire extinguishing installations and equipment on premises. Selection and positioning of portable fire extinguishers. Code of practice. This standard gives advice and guidance on the suitability and positioning of portable fire extinguishers, primarily those conforming to BS EN 3, that can be carried by one person and that are used for the protection of buildings, other premises, contents and to assist evacuation.

BS 5306-9:2015– Fire extinguishing installations and equipment on premises. Recharging of portable fire extinguishers. Code of practice. This standard provides essential information on portable fire extinguishing service, not available in any other standard. It’s important to assist fire extinguishing service companies and end users to fulfil the obligations placed on them by the Fire Safety Order. It also allows to service and maintain fire extinguishers in regular conditions as when first installed.
