FPA awarded gold standard for fire risk assessments

FPA join select group of fire risk assessors presented with the NSI Gold award for BAFE SP205 certification

Fire Protection Association (FPA), the UK’s national fire safety organisation has been presented with the gold award by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) for registration to BAFE SP205.

The BAFE SP205 scheme looks at the competence of personnel and quality management systems for companies who provide life safety fire risk assessments.  It allows UKAS accredited bodies, including the NSI, to certify companies for compliance and ensure fire risk assessments are issued in accordance with the scheme criteria.

Neil Galling, FPA Fire Advisory Services Manager states: “We are delighted to have achieved the NSI Gold Award for registration to the BAFE SP205 scheme. The process itself was challenging in parts, but it certainly helped that we already have robust quality management systems and processes in place such as ISO9001. It shows our continuing commitment to meet the industry’s very highest standards.”

FPA has joined an exclusive group of fire risk assessment providers to have attained the NSI Gold Award as a BAFE SP205 registered company.  However, it is expected more companies will attempt to achieve such accreditation as customers look for evidence and subsequent peace-of-mind that the fire risk assessment companies they appoint are suitably competent.

Stephen Adams, BAFE Chief Executive comments “We would like to congratulate FPA on achieving accreditation to SP-205.  It shows their commitment to meet the industry’s highest standards and their on-going staff development. This will be of great benefit to their customers, providing reassurance for their fire protection and compliance with the legal requirements.”

Jonathan O’Neill, FPA Managing Director concludes The NSI award and BAFE accreditation reinforces our position as one of the UK’s leading fire risk assessment providers. It demonstrates to new and existing clients’ further evidence of our capabilities and confidence that FPA will deliver a high quality service they can rely on.”
