The green book is now yellow

BS 7671 Amendment No. 3 (The IET Wiring Regulations)

All users of the IET Wiring Regulations need to be aware of the vital updates in Amendment No. 3 to the 17th Edition (BS 7671:2008+A3:2015).

BS 7671 (The IET Wiring Regulations sets the standards or electrical installation in the UK and many other countries. The standard is co-published with the IET and is the authority on electrical installation.

This major update to the standard affects all users. The updates are vital to ensuring the safety of installers and consumers alike.

The changes include amendments of the following areas:

  • Consumer units (to come into effect January 2016)
  • Wiring in escape routes
  • Changes to earth fault loop impedances for all protective devices
  • Updated EIC and EICR forms
  • Changes to definitions throughout the standard

The standard is of interest to all those concerned with the design, installation and maintenance of electric wiring in buildings. This includes electricians, electrical contractors, consultants, local authorities, surveyors and architects.

The standard will also be of interest to professional engineers, as well as students at university and further education colleges.
