Visitors To York Dungeon Are In Safe Hands

The Evac+Chairs have been installed in various parts of the dungeon, including the entrance and on the main evacuation route, to provide additional support for both employees and visitors in the event of an emergency evacuation. The dungeons, which are part of the Merlin Entertainments Group, have recently undergone a comprehensive fire and health and safety risk assessment.

The complex design of the dungeons means that there are numerous floors and staircases which can present difficulties for mobility impaired individuals in the event of an emergency. The evacuation chair system has been installed to ensure people who have difficulty and are unable to independently descend staircases, can do so safely in the event of an emergency evacuation. Individuals with physical disabilities, pregnant women or the elderly are amongst those who could benefit from this additional safety facility.
