Surrey School Has Just The Right Profile

After receiving a demonstration of Tyco’s ZETTLER PROFILE fire detection and alarm control panel, the facilities management team at Sir William Perkins’s School in Surrey were so impressed with its functionality, ease of use and modern aesthetics that the system was immediately specified for a new classroom block. The added advantage for the school is that the ZETTLER PROFILE system uses the latest digital technology, which provides superior detection performance coupled with zero tolerance to false and unwanted alarms.

Sir William Perkins’s School has approximately 600 pupils aged eleven to eighteen. Founded in 1725, the school moved to its present site in 1819 and today is located on Guildford Road, in Chertsey, Surrey. Work began in Summer 2015 to construct a new block that would create a new drama studio, music practice rooms, a careers and Sixth Form area as well as a new atrium café.

Tyco was already responsible for managing the existing Minerva MZX based fire detection and intruder systems within the school complex. As such, when informed of the upcoming construction project, the team from Tyco arranged a product demonstration of the new ZETTLER PROFILE system.

Andy Sivyer, Estates and Facilities Manager at Sir William Perkins’s School, commented: “When we were shown the ZETTLER PROFILE system we were so impressed with its simplicity and ease of use as we can access any part of the menu in just three steps. It was also really refreshing to have a large, modern touchscreen to manage and program the fire detection system, which also has the advantage of looking far more aesthetically pleasing.

After seeing the system in action, I immediately contacted our architects (IID) responsible for our new classroom block to have the ZETTLER PROFILE specified. Consequently, after we then experienced problems with an old existing system in another building, we instructed Tyco to immediately replace and upgrade with the ZETTLER PROFILE system.”

Built on the latest generation of digital fire detection technology, the ZETTLER PROFILE provides power, reliability and the highest levels of fire safety to protect lives and reduce false alarms. The new panel is backwards compatible and can interface with older legacy Minerva MZX panels meaning upgrading existing systems is easy, saves time and reduces installation costs. Furthermore, the system can be updated in line with future advances in fire detection technology as well as being easily expanded.

“The ease with which we were able to integrate the new ZETTLER PROFILE system with the existing system was a real benefit for us,” added Andy. “In addition, the service from the Tyco team was fantastic – they worked diligently overnight to ensure that the new system was installed during term time with minimal disruption to the School’s normal working pattern.

We are so happy with the product’s capability and the excellent service from Tyco that, we are programming a rolling plan to upgrade all remaining systems in situ with ZETTLER PROFILE. We want to ensure that our school is protected by the highest levels of fire safety and with a system that is easy to manage – which is exactly what we have with the ZETTLER PROFILE.”
